Andrew Munz's Homecoming Queen
October 15, 16, 17 | 7 pm
The Center Theater
In “Homecoming Queen”, the new show by local writer and director Andrew Munz (“I Can Ski Forever”; @YourGirlCatherine), Wyoming queerness takes center stage. An accomplished comedian and the only homegrown performer to have single-handedly sold out both the Center for the Arts and Pink Garter Theatre, Munz’s satirical productions are known for their hilarious spontaneity, quick wit, and honest confessions. Audiences rarely know what to expect before walking into his shows, but with limited performances and surprises at every turn, Munz takes care of them and a good time is always guaranteed
Five-years in the making, “Homecoming Queen” is grounded in Munz’s first-hand perspective of growing up in Jackson, adjusting to the success of Your Girl Catherine, and surviving as a queer man in a state with a fairly dark LGBTQ+ history. Featuring stand-up comedy, musical numbers, and a few secret special guests, Munz’s return to the Center Stage is undoubtedly his most ambitious work yet. And he’s just getting started.
The Center is thrilled to be collaborating with Munz and presenting this world premiere. Tickets to Friday’s performance include admission to an afterparty that will follow the show. Recommended for ages 16+ for language and adult content.
Andrew Munz graduated from Jackson Hole High School in 2005 and has been a prominent member of the local theater community since he first stepped on stage at eight-years-old. An alumnus of The Second City and iO Theatre, he has performed his original comedy in Chicago, New York City and Reykjavík, Iceland. He is Jackson’s current reigning Best Actor (Gold), the recipient of Off Square Theatre’s Rising Star award, and recently received a Performing Arts Fellowship from the Wyoming Arts Council. His first book, “I Can Ski Forever”, a collection of plays parodying local ski culture, was officially Jackson’s bestselling book of 2020. Follow him on Instagram @munzofsteel
